visit
the Veillon and its magnificent landscapes
Early in the morning, we're off for the day. Make sure you have good shoes, a cap and a picnic to be ready. Adventure awaits. Don't worry, all levels are accepted. It's all about discovery and a change of scenery.
First of all, I invite you to visit the Veillon beach à Talmont-Saint-Hilaire by car before setting off. You'll find plenty of parking just half an hour's drive from your campsite. Between marshes, forests, creeks and beaches, the Veillon awaits you to marvel at its splendour.
Feet in the sand at Le Veillon
The Veillon beach is a must-see on the Vendée coast. Take a stroll in the morning, very early or a little later for late risers. A walk with your feet in the sand will invigorate your body and mind during your holiday. This stretch of sand and clear water is renowned for its cleanliness. In fact, theThe Payré estuary is classified as a Large Natural Complex and is therefore preserved by the municipality. In 2007 it was awarded the Remarkable site in the Vendée. It was the first site to be awarded this certification. Take the time to admire the miles of fine sand and take a deep breath of fresh air.
After this awakening of the senses, let's go for a walk.
Pass through the pointe du Payré. Stop, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and feel the air caress your face. Then follow thehe Payré river which flows into the sea, and head back up towards the marshes. Take a walk along these paths to discover the salt marshes and their world.
The salt workers here harvest the salt every day of the year, using age-old, highly physical methods. They use their hands and arms to gather the salt from the sea. Each day's harvest varies according to the weather and the tides. Built in the shape of combs, these marshes have been designed to naturally harvest salt directly from seawater in huge salt ponds.
The flora and fauna in this environment flourish freely and naturally. Take a closer look. The vegetation here is unique and the animals thrive here. Flowers, plants, birds - let yourself be absorbed by their green world.
In the heart of the marshes, take a break, sit down on the grass and enjoy the picnic you've brought along. In the middle of nature, listen to the sound of the birds and the music played by the water and the wind.
If you need to, you can retrace your steps to enjoy lunch in a different way, in the comfort of your own home.a restaurant or on a picnic table, for example. You'll find the La Plage restaurant, on the Veillon beach, open from April and throughout the season. It serves fresh, seasonal dishes made with local produce. The cuisine is very tasty.
After a good meal, we resume our walk. In the afternoon, after seeing the salt marshes continue your walk, especially in the direction of the la Guittière. This little corner of the countryside, isolated from the rest of the city, is known for its oysters ! So if you're a fan, don't hesitate to pop down to the little market to pick some up. And for those with a sweet tooth, you can sample some directly on the spot! This is a pleasant village in summer, with a calm and friendly atmosphere.
To round off the day, put your towel down on the fine sand of the Veillon beach and bask in the sun. A little relaxation after a hard day's work won't go amiss. But don't forget the sun cream so you can continue to enjoy your holiday over the next few days. It's time to get out a good book or some beach games between dips in the cool water. Have fun playing Mölky, pétanque, skittles, volleyball, rackets, making sandcastles...
At the end of this emotional day, let's head back to our campsite. Le Moulin de la salle.
